You need a passport to fly but not if you drive. Passports are only required for driving starting sometime in 2008.

Why?
Just like anything else the economy just needs to adjust to the current conditions. Less reliance on US money, more reliance on Europe and Asia.
As long as Oil prices stay high we will be doing fine.

I think it's great that the Canadian dollar is where it's at. If you can shop online at one place and get what you want all the more power to you. You'll get a good price, save the Canadian tax and come out at least even or better with shipping when you consider that gas costs something to go across the border. Plus, I consider my time worth something so I save the shopping time - which can then be used to do something else.
