Anime North runs on volunteers too, the entire staff is fan-volunteers including the con chair. And they always complain they don't have enough staff. Which is understandable since AN spans over four venues for programming. But it could also be that Anime North always takes the Memorial weekend, so it's easy to plan the dates ahead of time.
