However, I think if it was less than 24 hours (or not overnight as the case may be) then it was still the $20.00 limit.
So this new $150.00/$40.00 limits should also apply to the less than 24 hours I imagine?

Does Canada Post still charge their $10.00 "handling fee" when they are collecting taxes/duty?

Re: New trade agreement 150 dollars allowed per transaction!
I buy stuff from the US all the time and bring it over in my car at Peach Arch or the Truck Crossing and unless it's over $200 they don't even bat an eye. They rarely ask for receipts either. They're WAY more worried about cigarettes or booze than some Transformers or video games or whatever.
90% of exchanges back into Canada:
Border officer: Where's home?
Me: Surrey
B: How long were you gone?
M: A half hour.
B: Bringing anything back?
M: Two Transformer toys.
B: Value of goods?
M: Seventy bucks
B: Any alcohol or tobacco?
M: No
B: Have a good day.
If I go during the work day I sometimes get asked why I'm not at work. I just answer "day off".
I've only been asked for a receipt once in the past 5 years or so.

Yes, they do.
(As of a couple months ago anyway)

Government website says there is no exemption for less than 24 hours. But as people have pointed out that isn’t enforced all that often.
I went across to Buffalo for 4 hours one year while at TFcon. We were not charged anything on the few things we brought back with us.
And no, I’d imagine these limits have nothing to do with shipped items.

Re: New trade agreement 150 dollars allowed per transaction!
Its ok...the US was pushing for a 300.00US cap....that would have been alot better and closer to what many other countries are allowing.

Does anyone know when this new $150 limit takes effect?

That's pretty cool, but too bad I buy most of my TF and other stuff from overseas, mainly Japan.
