If you need the older classics you'd be better off getting the more show-accurate japanese versions which will be released between March-May 2008. So far Prime, Megatron, Starscream, Bumblebee, Grimlock, & Mirage have been confirmed... most likely more will follow (i.e. Rodimus, Astrotrain, Jetfire, and Ramjet).

Released today:

"Lastly, brand manager Mike Ballog states in the magazine that the Animated toyline has been pushed back to late June with a full line release in August."

From the Collectors Club magazine.

Yep, looks like a delay. Them coming out that long (5-7 months?!?) after the cartoon really doesn't seem to make sense though.

Well the show already has season 2 in the works so it may come out between the 2 seasons. Looks like it'll be a LOOOONG time before another major wave of figures come out...

Yeah I heard about season 2 already being in the works too, so that's a possible logic. I always thought the only reason the cartoons exist has been to sell the toys though.

Don't think they'll accomplish that task this way too? :P

That's unfortunate, I think consumers in general will be sick of the movie line by that time.

I'm already sick of the Movie lines... esp. the Real Gears repaints.

Too bad... I'm looking forward to the Animation Grimlock. I guess more money left for SoC for the 1st 2 quarters of next year.

Yep I was selective with the line, I only bought the few figures that interested me. Saving money for Animated and Universe. One can only wonder if the kids are tired of the movie figures as well.

hehe, most the movie toys seem horrible for younger kids anyways. I just picture hundreds of Ironhides, Starscreams, Dropkicks, etc. all sitting in half-transformed garbled up piles, disposed due to transformations that are incoherent to the younger crowd (and the instructions don't help much).
