Re: The Playstation 4 Discussion
PS+ is pretty neat for PS owner. I have PS3, for $60/year I do think it worth the money, even I don't use it for online gaming. Each month 2 or 3 free games (good game maybe once a month), that's almost 10 to 12 good free game for a year, and deeper discount for buying other games.
Some of the free games I probably won't buy, since it's not appealing enough for me, like Vanquish. But when it's free, I just downloaded and tried it, actually it's pretty good.

Re: The Playstation 4 Discussion
$60 for a PS+ membership is better than an xBox Live one. At least you get discounts and games. The $399 price point and the used games playability really sold me.
Going to trade in my 360 at EB Games towards the PS4 now

Re: The Playstation 4 Discussion
I'm actually quite impressed with the PS4 messaging, pricing, etc., this is coming from one whom prefers playing on my XB360 over PS3.
I wonder since PS4 has a lower price, will they up-sell you by overpricing peripherals and add-ons?
Anyways, I thought it was quite funny how both new consoles are part matte and part shinny black. At first I thought the PS4 looked the same as the XBone, but then realized the PS4 is "italicized"

Re: The Playstation 4 Discussion
I am no gamer but I used to work in video game business and knowing Sony's current state of business it seems to me their price cut is a desperate move to regain sales and market share. Playstation is Sony's only life line now that their CE business got completely pwned by Samsung. Microsoft on the other hand doesn't solely relay on XBOX's revenue and Microsoft will have to room to cut if they are losing sale number to PS4 after launch. Also quantity will again likely be very limited in the first 3 months. But I guess the consumers can say they win.

Both subs now give you free games and Gold users have always had exclusive sales, but you're right. While the used games thing isn't as much a big deal with me, the cheaper price is what's going to sway me back over to the Dark Side. Sony is taking a right big risk here though. They're taking a big profit loss on the price of the console and marketing and hoping to make it back in game sales.

Re: The Playstation 4 Discussion
companies never make money on consoles because they are a loss leader. They make the money on the games and license fees that they charge companies to make games for their systems. The area that they make the most money right now is their online stores with digital software. very little overhead and major profit.

Not entirely true, Nintendo has always made money on their consoles.
As far as I understand the reason for the design of the PS4 was so Sony wouldn't loose money the entire generation. We won't know the true cost of the machine until it's released and someone takes it apart and does up a parts cost.

Been watching this twice a day. God damn, what an amazing show. Srsly, edge of my seat and hands on my head, too much for me to handle lol.
Anyways, I knew Sony had to make some sort of move when MS announced their price and Sony had like 7ish hrs to figure out their move. I figured it was going to be like $450, but wow, $399! Sony is doing everything right! No stopping it now!
Omg, when they announced FFXV (formally FF VS XIII) I freaked! Been waiting since day one for that game.
Though, Titanfall on the Xbox looks so cool, too bad it's an exclusive.
