Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

I'm in New West paying $771 for a one bedroom. Then again I also have a husband, daughter, dog and two cats along with myself. Other than money, the biggest deterrent to moving is finding a place that allows dogs.

Even the two-bedroom places tend to have have tiny second bedrooms. How do you guys do it?
Most of my collection has been stored in my Garage The boxes are stacked 10 ft high by 12 ft (HOARDER ALERT)

My office has one detolf and the rest of the TF's I like to tinker with is on my L-shape desk. I would love to show off my entire collection in the room but it would make it quite busy and cleaning would be a pain. By having less space I interchange TF's from time to time which is like opening a new toy every once in awhile!

I have a few pics of my collection, most of the expensive TF's is in the Detolf.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

I found these little cubbies at Canadian Tire for a very reasonable price. I already have 7 bookshelves in my spare bedroom so I REALLY didn't want more stupid shelves, this time stuffed full of toys instead of books. I find these work really well and are very easy to dust and keep clean.

Sorry for the overtones of the photo, my odd coloured walls turn most photos yellow.

My solution to the Vancouver housing prices was to not live in Vancouver. Granted, I'm a ferry ride away but heck, there is no way I could afford (nearly) oceanfront property anywhere BUT here on the Sunshine Coast. Well, maybe prime oceanfront property in Saskatchewan but I'm not that much of a sucker.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

I am renting this apt on Fraser and 39th ave.

http://www.liveatkarma.com/

It's just a studio but I am just keep it simple for now. I don't have a car and I don't even have much free time to go to IKEA and then spend even more time to build book cases. I just stacked up some banker boxes for now.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Yeah, I think when we're ready to raise kids we might have to move to the Island. But it will be really tough to leave Vancouver.

Heh, we don't have a car either but we make do. For most of our Ikea trips we either go with friends or ask my girlfriend's Mom to drive us. It's nice to have family around who are willing to help out like that.

The 4x4 'Expedit' (not Ikea, but same thing) is actually one of Elfsar's old bookcases. Remember that place? A shame they had to go. Anyway when they were closing down they were selling off the fixtures and I picked up one of the bookcases and a friend and I carted it from Yaletown to Burrard & Smithe on a skateboard. In retrospect I kind of wish I'd bought one of the smaller ones they had to stack on top but I suppose then I'd have no room for Generations Metroplex.

Nice display, Victory Saber! I am envious of your namesake.

Merewyn, your display looks a lot like my main one, nice! Those cubby-type shelves are pretty great for TF displays. I ended up removing some of the dividers in mine for displaying the Neo G1 collection, because at some point those cubes just aren't big enough for large lines.

Housing in Victoria isn't much cheaper than Vancouver either. But it's a nice place. I may move there when I retired. I always love living by the sea.
