Personally, I thought AOT was good but nothing special. Tonally, there's a lot of similarities between it and the Walking Dead TV show, only AOT is filled with your stereotypical anime characters. Plot wise, nothing much has really happened and it can get over-dramatic at times. But hey, the animation is super flashy, the world seems like an interesting place and Mikasa is too awesome not to watch.

I've read further into the manga and now my only concern is that it will follow the same path as all the hugely popular shōnens (One Piece, Naruto, etc) and just never end. Eventually resulting in fight after fight with less and less importance on the actual plot.
The logic in your reply to me is full of ignorance. It isn't me being jaded, it is me wanting more from my anime titles and them not living up to my expections. Then again, I wasn't a fan of Naruto, Bleach or One Piece either. Though the rest, I wouldn't compared AOT to The Walking Dead....

Re: Attack on Titan

It was an enjoyable series, definitely made my crunchyroll subscription worthwhile.

Sorry, that was supposed to be a joke. But I suppose that's mostly my fault since sarcasm doesn't really come across well over the internet :/

As for the Walking Dead comparisons, here's a few of the parallels I see:

-Dark, oppressive atmosphere, world in ruins due to supernatural monsters (though, Titans are WAY more interesting.)
-General plot is minimal at best. More focus on character development and interaction
-Lead character is interesting, but ultimately overshadowed by the supporting cast (This is also disappointing in that the Lead character is the only character that's truly safe from death - so you're stuck with them for the entire ride)
-Very great moments of tension, even if they are few and far between.
-The greatest flaw both shows suffer from is their horribly, mismanaged pacing. (Almost all of TWD S2 was a struggle and even episodes of the current season felt padded out. Episodes 15-end of AOT moved at a snail's pace compared to the opening of the anime)

Re: Attack on Titan

I just finished watching season 1, pretty cool show a bit long setting up certain scenes but overall enjoyable.

Only thing I know about it, Petra Ral? It's whom my daughter is cosplaying as at Anime North this year.
