variant or knock off???
just acquired this one from a coworker but im not sure if this is a ko or a variant.i have the original tyco tf train set and nowhere on the box does it picture a "purple" version of the main engine car.on the bottom it has the exact same "tyco made in hongkong" stamp that the silver original has.the main differences are a twin cannon instead of a radar dish and another twin cannon that folds up on the side which the original doesnt have.has anyone ever seen this before?does anyone have it?is it a decepticon version?

Oh yeah Consumers Distributing catalouges... the golden age of dreaming and drooling for toys... ah the memories.
Anyone else recall the "personal massage" device they used to sell in their catalogue, which was clearly a vibrator? LOL
Sorry for going off topic...

Yes. Yes I do. I have that page framed and up on my wall. KE-407-122. I wonder if they still have any stock?

Re: variant or knock off???
That is rather perplexing, I only have bits and pieces of the set that I have gotten over the years and never came across any red repaints of the grey/silver cabs....... a very bizarre find. Perhaps a Japanese/Asian release we never got or documented.

Re: variant or knock off???
Could it be from the Gi Joe train set? Did they use the same parts?

Re: variant or knock off???
While the GI Joe set used similar transformers (The OTHER transformer, the electrical device) and some similar cabs, they were all green or blue/grey.
