3D printing

Not sure where best to put this, but it is directly related to doing modifications - but feel free to move this elsewhere.

For anyone interested in trying their hands at the 3D printing game, or want to make their modifications open source/available to print at home instead of the shapeways route, this $150 3D printer that uses a smartphone may be of interest:

Max resolution looks pretty good to me, similar to a makerbot. Only concern is printing speed (so that you don't have to go phoneless for a day) and availability of print materials after the Kickstarter is complete.

Re: 3D printing

I backed it day 1 and then cancelled my backing after thinking about it. Basically this video articulates what I'm concerned about and some of the comments in the comments bring up some good points as well.
