Harry Kim was always a screw up. Surprised he didn't crash the USS Toilet Duck into a moon by accident.

DS9
Quark

VOY
Harry Kim, Neelix, Kes (with pixie haircut)

ENT

Re: The Star Trek "REAL FAN'S" ;) Thread

I can understand people not liking Quark, but he has some legitimately good scenes, like the famous "root beer" scene, or the "Remarkable Ferengi" episode...or when he talks about the economics of peace, or when he's telling Nog what humans are really capable of during the dominion war.

I think almost everyone has their moments, if you give them a chance. Even Wesley had that episode with the cadets and the shuttle accident.

I try and focus on the positives and wipe the negative episodes from my mind.

Really?

It's really hard to say if TOS on it's own was the reason for the continued success. It really only lasted 3 seasons (with the last being a writeoff) and could have been forgotten if not for the Motion picture.

I'd argue that TNG had more of a impact on pop culture.

Yup, by far Insurrection is the second best of the original 10 films, it has action, comedy, and a true Gene style story.

TOS is the reason we got TNG, (you can thank the motion picture, re-runs, the Wrath of Khan, and the Search for Spock for that.

Yes, the holodeck replicates the matter inside it. This is explained in detail in TNG

Re: The Star Trek "REAL FAN'S" ;) Thread

Most annoying characters huh:

TOS - In the show, all of them, in the movies Chekov and Uhura

TNG - Tasha Yar, Deanna Troi, Katherine Pulaski, Geordi LaForge

DS9 - Jake Sisko, Leeta - the rest were awesome

VOY - Voyager had no good characters - this show is a blight on Trek for all time.

ENT - Everyone but Dr. Sam Beckett sucked hard.

Re: The Star Trek "REAL FAN'S" ;) Thread

Most annoying?

DS9 - Kira

Voyager - Janway

I wanted to like these characters but they always rang false to me. I always got this "I am woman. Hear me roar" vibe from them. It always felt like they were acting, stress the acting, tough instead of being tough. It's too bad the actress who played Ensign Rho didn't want to do DS9. She knew how to play a tough female character convincingly.

TNG - Riker - He started off as my favorite character, then his mannerism started to irk me. He's always doing this "Riker Manoeuvre" when he sits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVIGhYMwRgs

Also he's always doing the "Riker Lean"

Dude even leans when he walks. Heck. Here's a video compilation of some of his best moves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlfNXyd0WF8

That's amazing. I never noticed how Warf was always treated...

Reminds me of some kind of running gag.

Comedy? Data floatation device? I would say it's one of the best TNG episodes, but not movie...

Yeah, this makes sense to me. I did not realize how much impact the re-runs had on the population in general.
