Silver sharpies work well, my suggestion is to use it, let it sit overnight so it has a chance to dry, and then go over it again, and again give it a chance to dry/cure. paint is definitely a more permanent solution however the sharpie works well have done it to a bunch of my cw figures. Also for paint... you can use the folks art paint you can grab at walmart/michaels. just put a quick primer layer on the figure, for some of the colours you may need to put a few coats, but the paint works beautiful every time
