Re: Transformers 4 will be in 3D

And THAT Matrix HOlder is the whole reason for 3D to exist: bring people back to the movie theatre. With the quality of screen and surround sound in home cinema there's no reason to rush out to pay ridiculous prices to sit in a room with sticky floors to watch a movie when you can watch it at home on DVD or Blu-Ray.

So what do the marketing wizards of Hollywood do? They make BIG EVENT out of movies, they turn every movie into a CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE, try to turn everything on the schedule into a tentpole and make the shiny 3D bedazzle you into going back to the theatre. It's all marketing voodoo.

Screw good film making when you can have giant hands come out to you and wonky camera angle showing dramatic stairs.

Not that I am completely immune to this, I did see Avengers in 3D and Iron Man 2 at IMAX (though IMAX is on another level entirely)... but at least those were GOOD movies even in 2D. I'd rather not go see a Bay movie in 3D. The shaky cam and mess of metal that counts as Transformers in his film are already dizzying enough in 2D, I don't need the 3D. Plus them having poorly defined characters and unsympathetic leads.

As long as it's shot in actual 3D and isn't one of those 'after the fact' 3D movies, which are horribly unconvincing and a waste of everyone's money.

3D is like alcohol: it's bad for you and if you need it to make something fun, then it was never really fun in the first place.
