Yup...and I took that photo at probably the most flattering angle...
If the wings didn't dip so deep below the bottom of the car it may have worked but because the doors are incorporated (which also breaks up the look of a whole cockpit too to boot) it just doesn't wind up looking well.
But like you said, everything else is perfect and it is easy to ignore the flight mode.

It's in the instructions...and there's even a piece incorporated that flips around so the missiles can connect to, meant just for the flight mode.
Wheeljack will have a spoiler pinned in there instead.
