Last year, I did this and found it kind of depressed me for what I forgot about buying when I was super excited.
This year, I tried to appreciate what I bought more (keeping things in the front of the shelf, or on the desk longer, etc). I also tried to keep to 12 (1 per month) to better help me focus on what I bought.
The 12 thing went to shit at TFCon, but you ignore the TFCon purchases (and my birthday purchases), I mostly kept to 12.
