Kabaya Ultra Magnus

Can't believe my first Ultra Magnus "custom" is so...small...

Just some really simple touch ups made to the Kabaya Ultra Magnus figure. Got a second one specifically for this purpose after seeing all the white stickering that was done to the original figure. Still used some of the stickers to give him a nice detailed look that paint would never bring out.

So here's what you start with when you build your kit:

Not very exciting....but this is where you and your paint come in. What you'll need is some testors red, white, silver, and flat black. You'll also need a pair of scissors so you can cut out certain sections of lager stickers (IE the windshield, grill/bumper, headlights, roof ensig, front wheels, and "knee pads").

So you can see a lot of molded detail is initially there but the stickers can cover up a good amount of it, especially in the cab and face. But with the right mix of stickers and paint, I think we can agree on getting a nicely detailed tiny Ultra Magnus

Red was added to the torso, thighs, and missiles. Silver was added to the face, antennae, forehead "vent", bumper, and smokestacks. Flat black was added to the wheels and wheel wells. Finally, white was added to the cab, elbows, fists, shins/doors, hips, and little circles on his abs. Additionally white could have been added on the sides of his legs, on that triangular shaped portion, where on the original G1 Magnus trailer would swing out and make the forearm peg in, or if you have steadier hands then I or a better painting talent you could give him his traditional red shins.

The following are comparison shots with the normally completed "stock" Kabaya Ultra Magnus, with all the stickers applied. In the robot mode you can see the painted version goes more for the G1 Ultra Magnus toy in colour scheme with the white hips and red thighs vs. what the kit went with, following the 6' Titanium Ultra Magnus colour scheme (blue hips and white thighs).
