I stay away from KOs if the official product is reasonably available in some form. A product I like and appreciate is worth supporting with my wallet.
With that said, the only KO I ever bought was an MP Ratbat, and that was only because I couldn't justify buying an MP Soundblaster I didn't want just to have what amounts to an accessory. Had Takara released MP Ratbat on its own, I would've bought the official release.
