Re: TFcon - Quest Bar Prices 2015 vs 2016
I've worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years, albeit not with the qualifications of Chefticon, but I'm very aware of prices. I've worked fine dining and chains, of varying price points.
In a big city I expect to pay 25 before tip for a burger and beer, at this point. Pub food has gone up in quality (honestly, it's my favorite), but it's anywhere from 13-19 dollars for an entree, and usually 7-9 for a beer. So it's not cheap.
But I agree on seeing menu prices increase so dramatically. It's one thing if say, steak prices go up. Because steak prices have skyrocketed recently. But those are pretty hefty price increases that don't seem to really correlate into reality. Hey, it's possible this bar needs to increase revenue to pay for staff, upgrades, maybe their food costs *have* increased that much. But it comes across as more exploitive.
