I don't understand it either, and I think a lot of US citizens would be surprised at how many large companies do not, or refuse to, ship internationally.
In the year 2008, in a world where there are people of car-driving age who have no experience of life without the Internet. HTS, Banana Republic, big chunks of Amazon.com (not even just the DVDs), Walmart (yeah, I know)... these are big US names who one would naturally assume ship internationally, but don't/won't.
