I guess we're so passionate that our emotions get in the way.
I once met up with a board member for a deal and found out he messed up my order. In good faith, I paid him the full amount, took home the part of the order that was right, and promised to meet later for the rest.
When I followed up with him several days later, he wrote me a long lecture on why I shouldn't pester him. Even though I was the wronged party, I suppressed my anger, stayed focus, found in the lecture the words "I'm working on it", which was exactly what I wanted and responded with "Thank you for the update."
To his credit, he apologized the next day for his behaviour (due to other circumstances) and closed the deal.
I think it would have turned out badly if I acted on my initial reaction.
