Actually, I don't think it is a glitch. My understanding is that Walmart tries to clear out old inventory by slashing the prices. Eventually it comes down to a very low amount but good luck finding it at that point since they get scooped up by speculators. I was lucky since I had a receipt that was almost 3 months old. Also, each store clears out items at different prices depending on how much inventory they have of each item.
I picked up G1 Optimus reissue for ten bucks a few months back.
The above also applies for Marvel Legends; went to return a ML MCU Wasp and found it was reduced to $1.
