For exchange TRU staffs @ customer service may not even check your receipt. They will just confirm the items in exchange have the same SKU and you are good to go. So, unless the given items have been discontinued you may be able to exchange it beyond the time limit

BTW, this trick definite doesn't work @ Walmart since they use the product barcodes in their system and all TFs have unique barcodes from Hasbro.
