Kind of similar but my own fault:
I've been trying to *not* snip the plastic ties for a while now
Generally I get ahold of the "T" at one end, angle it so one end goes back through the hole in the insert, and once the figure is out, I pop them back in
In some instances with limbs, usually if enough of the figure is loose, I can just slide the arm/leg out
However, I remember my (first) copy of POTP Tailgate, I was attempting to slide the legs out, and one of them got a fairly visible scratch in the (black paint on top of white plastic)
I guess the plastic tie had an imperfection along its length?
I was pretty upset, had to replace him
