They'll release him as a BAF over the next 20 years.

Technically they would cancel the planned release.

However since they are offering this in Japan as well, and who knows what they will do for the rest of Asia, I don't see that happening. Rather this seems to be a numbers game for HasTak. They want to get as much up front before starting production. It also helps them to plan how many to make to reduce overproduction. Thus allowing them to skip the middleman (retail) and keep the product from shelfwarming, and not having to haggle with retailers about orders/price/shelf space etc.

The only way this won't get made is if it falls well short of the 8000 that Hasbro is seeking. Again though I don't see that happening.

I hope that enough backers sign, I really want the figure, but there's no way I'd have enough in 30 days.

The price in 2 years will likely be much higher, so be mindful of that. The Jabba Barge they did now sells for $1300 USD on eBay. Originally was $500 to fund.

How much do you think it'll cost to ship this big boy?

A lot no doubt so I am gonna use a U.S. address. I just did that for the SDCC Neca Capture of Splinter set. My brother told me he has a U.S address in Niagara Falls and so far it seems to work well. They still process duties and taxes but that is no surprise.
I should have the set Monday or Tuesday. If, most likely when, I decide to join in on Unicron, I am 100% gonna use that as a means to save on shipping.

I've heard it's a flat rate $30 USD to ship up to the limit of 5 units to Canadian addresses. Theory goes that they'll eventually be sent from a Montreal facility AFAIK.

You’ll need to pay State taxes and pay taxes again when you cross into Canada, no? I ran the numbers and shipping to Canada seems to make more sense than my WA mailbox.

Of course also keep in mind you can't OPEN it if you want the 100% return on investment.

It'll be worth more than its original price even opened.
