TFcon Toronto 2020 rescheduled to September 4-6
 

TFcon Toronto 2020 has been rescheduled to September 4-6 2020 to ensure in advance that it is safe to proceed with the convention. We feel this new date will give us a better chance to deliver the event that our fans and supporters look forward to every year.

Attendees with hotel reservations in the TFcon block do NOT have to contact the hotel to cancel their July reservations (it will be done automatically), but you DO need to rebook a reservation for the September date.

All exhibitor bookings have been automatically transferred to the new date, no action is required.

Our expectation is that due to the strict sanitation and physical distancing protocols that have become the new norm, we will likely require attendees to wear masks and we will need to limit the number of people on the show floor to ensure a safe environment for all of us come this fall.

Being a smaller collector show we have a better chance of making this work than a massive Comic Con event come September.

The 80's Toy Expo has now been moved to Sunday, October 4th so as not to coincide with TFCon happening on the Labour Day weekend of September 4th to 6th.

Well, there it is - better rescheduled than cancelled I suppose

Though usually the January/April/July/October cons largely coincide with when I get the quarterly advances on my bonus, so I usually have a nice chunk of change for the con

This resched puts the con squarely two months after one bonus, and a month before the next one, so I'm going to have to REALLY focus to not blow all my muns beforehand

I think it can work based on what essential retail operations have been operating with during the pandemic.

During the pandemic “we” have businesses shuffling through thousands of customers a day. Many with way less space than a convention show floor allows.

Its all about controlling lines and keeping a tight count on numbers of people going here or there.

It won’t be business as usual, so people need to keep that in mind. But I think a close approximation will work fine.

People will line up outside for hours just to get in. Just watch it. When you do your groceries (pretty much the only thing allowed at the moment), you damn know what you're after and you're done in no time. A convention? You want to look around and take your time.

I work in an essential business. I think you are assigning way too much good will towards how people are shopping during the pandemic.

But I agree, there will be lines and people will have to be patient.

I'm still bummed out it had to be rescheduled (I mean i get it), but the original date had landed on my birthday (July 11th), was hoping to celebrate it at TFcon. *please let the 2021 convention be that weekend too*

God I really hope this can still happen at least. I'm curious how you guys will get guests for this year or will they all be video streaming panels essentially to minimize risk.
