What's a good way to unload a lot of figures all at once?
 

Lately I've been feeling like there are some figures that I could sacrifice, even though I still like them, to get some figures that I'd rather have. Example; I'd be willing to let got of my TFP/PRID/RID15 figures (among others) if it meant I could get at least some of the remaining 6 figures I need to complete my '86-'87 Autobots and Decepticons. My problem is patience, as in I don't have any!

The experience I had selling figures a few years ago has just soured me on the whole thing. Don't get me wrong, I had great interactions with people, it was just that I ended up with stuff just sitting in my basement for over a year and I ended up selling it all to some store. Due to how little I actually paid for the figures I still made money, but not as much as I would have liked.
I really don't want to have to piece my figures out one by one over months/years. If I was to let them go, I'd rather do it all in one shot and just be done with it. But I'm not sure that's possible.
I basically just don't want to get stuck with an incomplete set of figures once all the best ones have been cherry picked and the others won't sell.

On Facebook someone suggested putting them up on Kajiji or something as a lot and just letting them go, which I'm not adverse to, but while I don't expect to make big bucks, I also don't want to just give them away. I realize that the figures I mentioned are relatively new and not really worth that much, but I do have a few that were harder to get, like the First Editions, and the Takara Breakdown and Jet Vehicon. I know they're not on the level of Overlord hard to get, but they're not common either.

I'm just not sure what to do.

kijiji, eBay or Facebook. I'm not into lots so it may be harder to move. I would suggest eBay for lots and let people decide for themselves what to pay so to speak

Small lots, maybe, one big lot, no. You'll make much more money selling the figures individually, even if that means being patient.

I'd say small lots too.
But have 1 each of the more sought after figures as part of each lot to move those other ones.

The only people who buy large lots are those who want to resell them. They'll generally pay you much less than the lot is worth because they need to make a markup/profit.

When selling individually you're more likely to find someone who actually wants to keep the figure, as opposed to resell it, and they will pay you closer to what it is worth. Problem there is you end up with a whole bunch of figures no one wants/needs right now that sit in your basement, like you mentioned.

Small lots, as was suggested, are a bit of an in-between in that people who want one figure might buy the two because of the one they really want. But they're not likely to pay full value for the rest they don't really care about (and might ask you to break up the lot).

Personally I think the best solution is list and sell what you can, particularly high value items. Then clear the rest out at bargain prices (or sell to a store).

Have you tried to sell at a show? I know a few members that did and sold their stuff at rock-bottom prices (priced to sell) and went home with cash in-hand a small box of unwanted items.

I've done really well at shows also... next one is sunday nov 5th

key is to know what the price of things actually is by looking up ebay sold auctions. Then sell for a bit less than that
