White Whale Found!
 

One of my most wanted rare transformer items or "White Whales" was an animation cel of Optimus Prime. Ever since I was a kid I wanted one. I got out of collecting the toys long ago and sold my collection... But a deep part of me still wanted an Optimus cel.



Recently I found one on Buyee and had the means to bid on it! He arrived today and it's everything I dreamed and more:

There are some flaws, it's got some splatters... the drawing is stuck to the back. But I don't care. It's mine. It's Prime. It's great. I feel so happy to have this finally.

Grats on your find dude. I'm not into cels, but I've got a half-height billy full of primes, so I know what that drive is about.

Yeah Cobra Commander! It's from episode 15 "A Plague of Insecticons" Which is the most common episode to find cels of. Aside from perhaps the G1 Movie.

5:08 if you want to freeze frame. If you go to the gear icon and slow the video to 0.25 speed it's quite easy to catch the single frame.

I have a deep psychological connection to Transformers... I was brain washed as a kid by the commercials and show... I would watch six hours of Transformers a day as a kid on a daily basis. (We had the VHS tapes) I think this is the reason that I feel profoundly at peace right now. An animation cel of Optimus Prime is something I've longed for, obsessed over and dreamed about for so long. 30 years or so. It's amazing what having this is doing to my mind. I feel like a knot is untying. I don't crave anything I normally do... No Computer gadgets... No cloths... No vinyl records. All my other stuff is secondary to this cel. Even my cellphone! I would choose to save this cel before any other "Thing" in my possession. I just feel like a tense muscle is relaxing... Like I've cracked a joint that was stiff... etc. I just feel so satisfied.
