DX9 D07 Tyrant

I had a difficult time choosing between DX9's Tyrant and FansToys' Sovereign. I liked the look of both Galvatron offerings but to me, DX9 Tyrant stood out. Who knows, if the Canadian dollar ever creeps back up there is no harm in having another Galvatron down the road.
The outer box art reminded me of the garish artwork adorning carnivals which to me made it unique. The sides of the box show Galvatron's team and if Cyclonus and Scourge were offered I would gladly pick them up if Tyrant was any indication of what to expect from DX9.

There wasn't anything special packaged with Tyrant except for the chain holding the Matrix and a poster of Tyrant.

Tyrant feels nice in hand. The plastic looks to be of good quality, with some metal dispersed throughout the figure and the colours are bang on. Good face sculpt and working rubber treads add to the MP quality that this figure is supposed to tout.

There are two arm cannons to choose from the clear plastic with specks of gold or the solid version. They both look good and can mount on the inside the included three bulb LED flashlight. Though the clear plastic would look weird with the light.

The transformation wasn't difficult but for me they reversed the hip pieces; which I didn't notice at first, and made the transformation longer than it needed to be. Everything is tight. The feet joints and a lot of the various moving parts needed a bit more elbow grease to move.

From the Tuna Standard (each can is 1.5 inches tall) he does meet MP heights and the weight is expected from something of good quality plastic and parts of metal.
Overall, I am quite happy with Tyrant, except for the reversed hip pieces and the included chain's clasps not being able to fully close around the bulky arms of the Matrix, it is a solid figure to include in your MP collection.

Nice Job as always. I like your reviews. I have yet to grab a Galvatron as I suspect TT doing one quite soon

My only complaint would be that the finger joints are loose, although that might just be mine.

Galvatron is one of my favs so sovereign will be a buy too

Thanks Masta Skidz! And Predahank, the fingers were loose on my Tyrant also but not enough that I couldn't pose them.

Great review. The alt mode looks good but does it tilt up to aim at King Starscream's noggin? The robot mode doesn't do it for me. I'll wait for FT.

Can a fan gun mode be achieved?

Yup. Just no trigger.

No tilting. Tyrant should be able to but its the way that back support is designed that prevents it from doing that.
