MP Cassettes QC Issues

*going with TV names

Nothing wrong with Ravage, Frenzy, or Buzzsaw. Some paint scratch on Fenzy's gun and Buzzsaw's wing, but not a big deal.

But something wasn't right with Rumble as soon as I took him out of the box:

That's right, two right arms:

http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/attac...5&d=1365568587http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/attac...6&d=1365568587

As for Laserbeak, the pin for the left thruster I think was misfired. I hear squeaking when I move the piece and it takes some force in order to get it to move. It still transforms, but it's just a bit too close to where it should be and as a result, a lot of paint rubbing where the thruster meets the body: http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/attac...8&d=1365568587

Luckily, the left wing covers most of that up, but it still tears me up instead knowing that is there....

Going to email TFsource where I got the MP cassettes and see if they can do something about Rumble.

So, how is everyone else's cassettes?

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Man, I feel your pain, good luck with your rumble
as for me, my laserbeak has also some small paint rubbing at the same places as your laserbeak but not buzzsaw
but my mane issue is with my frenzy, the ball joint of one of his leg keeps popping out without any force, the strange thing is that is not even loose, its juts pops out easily when I transform him, luckily, no issue of that type with my rumble.

Ditto for paint issues on Laserbeak. Rumble ok

My Rumble has a messed up eye, as well as two of the same gun.

Still a cool mold though.

When I get my Rumble I will check. I hope it is fine. My one LB wing is tight but doesn't rub or ruin anything thankfully

Nothing funky with my cassettes. Hopefully you can get it resolved from wherever you got them from.

That pin problem, I got one with the FOC Grimlock I got from Robotkingdom. Because of that, the arm is all loose and won't transform properly. They asked me to send a picture of the problem, which I did, and after that, they ignored all my emails regarding the issue (but still replied to the ones about potential purchases).

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Pascal, they may possibly be still looking in to the issue. Sometimes it isn't a quick resolve. They may have to get authorization from Hasbro or something...or maybe they are jerks. Either way, the first one is still possible.

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Takara's QC has definitely been shoddy lately. My Frenzy & Ravage set was fine except for 2 of the same piledrivers (so I couldn't store one of the guns since the slots were facing the same way), but my Rumble has a paint app issue on his crotch :P and Buzzsaw's head camera has the joint crooked so it flips up at a weird angle.

They do mass produce this stuff, so I do understand that there is going to be the odd issue here and there but the quality has dropped off more lately.

oh my that sucks... both my sets are great i wonder sometimes if where you buy it from makes a differnce as i have bought all my stuff from "it came from japan" and i have no issues with his stuff i get it fast and price is always far..... i know with fort max he paid more to have it shipped double boxed to save on the damage and my box is in dead mint shape :)

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Other than some minor paint issues, all 5 of my MP cassettes are great!

I doubt it...unless Tak-Tomy purposely sends the factory seconds to certain places, which I doubt, it's just luck of the draw. More concerning would be the increasing rate of QC issues. For Masterpiece, especially from Takara, I expect a little better than what we've been getting. But it's just definitely a crap shoot - my MP Soundwave and Laserbeak were perfect.

the camera can be fixed easily, laserbeak had it on mine, just move it over with your fingernail in the direction it needs to go, and it will click right into place

the paint app issue if it is overspray, small dab of rubbing alcohol on either a q tip or a toothpick, soak for a min, and kinda scrape/rub it off, be careful not to hit the other paint though

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Yeah mine are pretty great, I am though just leaving them in robot mode from here on so I don't risk anymore paint rubbing or anything.

Good to know - I'll try that on my Buzzsaw. Thanks :)

My MP-13 is fine. Laserbeak was tight to transform at first try but it's likely just me being too careful.

I consider having the same gun or piledriver to be as big of a problem as mine.

That really sucks. Hopefully as joshimus said they are still looking in on it.

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Seriously, what is up with Takara QC? I don't think I'm the only one worried about the Fort Max situation. My MP-11 Starscream's head was misassembled, my Lambor paint has an ugly glob... but those weren't dealbreakers. Is there going to be a breaking point?

I've got this feeling that BBTS is the only entity that can speak on the consumer's behalf. Hopefully they send back enough FMs and MPs to give Takara the idea that they need to shape up.

^no, they just stopped taking returns for paint apps

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Right, but those Fort Max issues go way beyond paint. Either way I'm keeping my fingers crossed that mine is okay.

I thought MP are supposed to be "Masterpiece".... what's with all these QC issues lately with the MPs...

By the ways, what is wrong with the Reissue Fort Max?

I'm unsure if this problem will be for all the fort maxes but the only two videos posted on youtube right now state "stiffness"with cerebros leg/legs

Got an email from TFsource today saying the problem has been forwarded to the service guy. We'll see how that goes.

EDIT: Another email today saying they are sending me a replacement left arm.

Finally got my replacement left arm from TFSource today.

Here's a close up. See all that blue where it should not be? I wonder if it was a coincidence that was just the arm I got, or it's from a sketchy Rumble TFSource is scavenging from for parts replacement. Whatever, I'm just glad both arms bend the right way now.

Frenzy: "?"
Rumble: "Your problem now."

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

Sorry about reviving an old thread but I just picked up a sealed Hasbro MP Soundwave and have some serious issues with the birds.
Tried flipping up one of the wings on Buzzsaw's blaster and the thing broke right off. Didn't move a bit. Went on to Laserbeak and one was pretty tight and started to bend and break. It's still attached but now has a small crack in it. I've really never had an issue like this with any of my TFs. Is there someone at Hasbro I can complain to and hopefully get replacements that actually transform properly without breaking?

Re: MP Cassettes QC Issues

where did you get him as he's been sold out for awhile, if bought of someone maybe he was past on as damaged goods, its not hard to make most newer mps MISB while have been opened.. sad that this has happened but missing a head seams to be a return or hand off... as for getting help from Hasbro good luck can try but don't expect to much as most have failed getting help from them...

Ran into the problem of a thruster strut snapping a few months back and finally getting round to replacing/fixing it. Any idea of where I can get replacement parts or how I'd go about fixing the snapped loop (one end is still partially attached)?
