I've ordered with US Amazon before and the shipping included a brokerage fee. When I spent over $100 I was able to avoid being dinged at the border. Might be an option.

Haha well over budget by that point. But I'll keep it in mind just in case I see multiple things of interest

ended up taking your advice, amazon.com was more reasonable than amazon.ca funny enough. thanks man
