Shout Factory Beast Wars Sets Won't Be Released In Canada
 

In a sad bit of news, due to licensing issues, it has come to be known that the highly anticipated Shout Factory "Beast Wars" DVD sets will not be released in Canada.

Looks like us Canadian fans will have to import the DVD sets if we wish to own them.

I realize there were some posts about this in other threads, but as we near release I think it's probably not a poor idea to notify people that the sets will not be released in Canada. This is due to an ownership issue with Canada's home video distribution rights being held by Alliance Atlantis.

You can get it on Amazon.ca. That will be my method I guess. No big deal though I do have a Future shop gift card I was planning to use on it. Haha.

Lame if not entirely unreasonable. Hopefully it changes - after all, ReBoot was an Alliance/MainFrame joint venture and that's in Canadian stores.

As long as I can get it through Amazon.ca I won't complain, however I find this Alliance Atlantis swill tough to swallow. It's been keeping us from enjoying a good quality program again that isn't on the air and AA hasn't done thing one with the distribution of those series in like, FOREVER, so I have to question their rights to claiming distribution ownership in our country when they haven't done jackshit with the thing for going on close to fifteen years, I think... Possibly less than that.

It's a real headscratcher this rights garbage. And they're also probably the reason why we aren't getting Shadow Raiders (War Planets), Action Man or any of the other Mainframe produced animation series on DVD, when a lot of them were decent feats of computer engineering. Even if the storylines themselves were a tad on the... Questionable side. (Action Man.)
