Choosing Between CW/UW KO PE Upgrade Kits or More Combiners
 

I'm making the last choice for my collection and am having much trouble... was wondering if the community can help me with this :D

My collection that I managed to stuff in two Detolfs (with the help of aftermarket shelf clips) consists of the following:

Autobots:
- Gen Metroplex
- Takara LG 35+42 God Ginrai
- UW Superion + CW Alpha Bravo + CW Powerglide
- CW Defensor + CW Deluxe and Legends Groove
- UW Computron + Gen Cosmos w/ Payload
- POTP Volcanicus + POTP Slash
- POTP Orthia + Siege Chromia + TR Arcee

Decepticons:
- TR Trypticon
- CW Megatron + upgrade kit
- CW/TR Soundwave, Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Howlback
- CW Devastator
- UW Bruticus + CW Blast Off + CW Shockwave
- POTP Abominus + POTP Cindersaur
- TR Sixshot
- TR Sky Shadow

Space and budget wise, I am choosing between the following:

- Option 1: Get KO PE HFG upgrades for all of the existing combiners (because I think the improved proportions make the combiners look so awesome with them).

- Option 2: Add the following 3 combiners: 1) CW Sky Reign + CW Wreck-gar, 2) CW Menasor + CW Brake-Neck + CW Blackjack, and 3) CW Optimus Maximus + CW Rodimus (Menasor to be displayed combined, while Sky Reign and Optimus Maximus will be displayed in individual robot mode for sentimental value).

I have the combiners and all the upgrade kits sitting in front of me and it's driving me nuts.

Optimus Maximus and his limbs are lazy repaints (not great individual toys) and the worst combiner torso. I LIKE the individual Stunticons but, sadly, Motormaster is the worst combiner torso. Sky Reign is really fuckin' cool, and the repaints are MUCH better than the OpMax ones, but...

I'd say upgrade.

If it were me, I'd split the difference, get the Stunticons, and pick up the upgrade kits!

If you decide to get the Optimus Maximus Combiner, you'll definitely need to buy the SND Primo Vitalis upgrade kit for Optimus. It changes him into IDW Prime and makes the combiner torso look way better.

If you get the Battle Core Optimus Prime (the white version), you should also get the SND X-Mortis upgrade kit, such turns this Prime into Nova Prime (it looks so badass). It also makes the combiner torse look better.

Whichever route you choose for Prime, you won't be disappointed. Just Google both kits to see which one you like better. I ended up getting both, lol.

Here's a picture of my Bruticus with some Upgrades. I have the Transform Dream Wave kit on him (minus the head) and the ko perfect effects feet (since those are better imo).

Here's Battle Core Optimus with the SND X-mortis upgrade kit on him (yeah, BIG difference).

Id go with option 1, especially if space is an issue.

Yeah I agree. I wasn't planning on getting Menasor and Optimus Maximus but then I ran into Sky Reign, fell in love with Sky Lynx et al., and picked it up. Now that I have Hound, Wheeljack, Smokescreen and Trailbreaker, I thought it'd be nice to round out the group by getting Ironhide, Prowl, Sunstreaker and Mirage.

Then I thought, well, now that I have a set of Menasor repaints, why not get the actual Stunticons as well...

And down the slippery slope I slid.

Then somebody offered me a complete set of KO PE upgrades for every combiner I had for an awesome price so I had to pick them up even though it broke my self-imposed budget.

Thus the current dilemma...

Those look absolutely wonderful. The head on Bruticus was one of the reasons why I picked UW over CW.

As for the other upgrade kits, I'm completely tapped out on the budget side. Otherwise, I'd seriously consider it.

Yeah. Definitely considering upgrading your existing combiner wars figures, it really makes all the difference. Check Ebay for the kits, since you can find good deals from sellers in Asia for them. The Transform Dream wave kit for Bruticus can be purchased for just under $50 (shipping included). That's a great kit since it upgrades the entire figure.
