I have the takara fort max from anime export coming hopefully next month (Damn potential strike) and I paid $163 usd before shipping for it and he comes with better paint apps and the sword too. It's about 210 Canadian plus shipping and I'm splitting that with a buddy who also ordered one too.

I'll be at FanExpo on the Friday and Saturday. First time since moving away from Toronto 5 years ago. I really want a Fort Max but $250 is kind of a bitter pill to swallow. I'm still thinking I'll go for it. I would get a Takara one but even if I was lucky enough to get a decent preorder, I'd probably get dinged on duty fees once it arrived, and that just feels like getting robbed.

TRU sale price: $172.47 + ONT HST = $194.89
Fanexpo Price: $249.99 + ONT HST = $282.49

Difference: $87.60 for the sword.

You also have to factor in FanExpo admission cost, and that the Takara Legends version will have more paint apps on it.

And I heard that sword is pretty crappy. Sale hasbro version and perfect effect sword for me. Cheaper overall and much better sword.

I paid $50 for the PE Sword at TFCon and it is great. I can't wait to get my Fort Max and put it in his hand. So lame he doesn't come with a gun like Metroplex did.

Yes, it is lame. If you want guns get the Japanese version where you can use the cannons on the legs as a gun and a shoulder cannon. Yes, it is still not right but at least TakaraTomy is trying.
