| Chop | Cut | Rebuild |

Almost every Generation 1 Transformers collector dreams of having the Canadian release of Dinobot Slag within their collection given it's the closest representation to the cartoon released.

Thankfully, I was able to find one in decent condition locally, and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to take the time to try and fully restore it given my automotive background.

The only catch, and albeit will probably kill those genuine enthusiasts, but I'll be using a regular issued Dinobot Slag to swap parts with and make this figure even more cartoon accurate.

Day One

What I'll be starting with....

10 minutes after getting it home....

Day Two

https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...53817602_n.jpg
Before and after the 3% Hydrogen Peroxide treatment and hand polishing of the screw heads....

The dilemma.... repaint, OR use the regular issue.

More to come as the parts come in. Also, if anyone has the Chromed Diaclone horns, please PM me.

So far, so good. If it ends up as good as your other refurbished bots it will look great.

looking good so far, i'd swap the red chest from the regular slag, easier than matching the paint, and it's genuine. the chromed horns can be found on the KO red slag.

I was thinking the same thing, although I compared the colouring to my mint G2 Slag, and the reds are very similar. Only downfall, the metal casting between the two chests isn't nearly as defined.

ah, you're using a g2 as the donor? careful. with most g1, the molding is the same, some of the g2s are different and may have things not lined up

I was only comparing the shades of red, and I currently only have plans to use a genuine regular release of Generation 1 Slag for parts. :)

ah ok, the red is the same (was on the one i used) wouldn't want to see you tear apart a g2 slag for nothing

i did this same restore about four months ago i think, the cdn slag i picked up was broken in almost all the clear parts. looks like new now
