Frank Welker the voice of Megatron at TFcon Toronto 2016
 

TFcon is proud to announce pop culture icon Frank Welker, best known to Transformers fans as the original voice of Megatron will be a guest at this years convention in Toronto. Mr. Welker will be appearing Saturday July 16th, with tickets available in the near future.

In the 1980s, Welker voiced many recurring characters in the original Transformers animated series. He voiced several Decepticons, including the leader Megatron, Soundwave, Skywarp, Mixmaster, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage and Ratbat, as well as Autobots Mirage, Trailbreaker, Chromedome and Sludge. With the release of The Transformers: The Movie (1986), he took on the role of the Autobot Wheelie and afterwards, took over the role of Galvatron.

In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), he reprised the roles of Soundwave and Ravage, and also provided the voices for Grindor, Devastator and Reedman.

Welker also reprised the roles of Megatron and Soundwave in the series Transformers: Prime and the video game Transformers: Devastation.

He voiced Shockwave, Barricade, and Soundwave in the film Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), and reprised his role as Galvatron in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014), adding to his already large list of roles within the Transformers franchise.

TFcon Toronto 2016 will take place at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale with special guest IAN JAMES CORLETT the voice of Cheetor in Beast Wars with many more to be announced. Online booking for the TFcon Toronto 2016 hotel block is now available.

Based off of Cullen's price last year, this will be one expensive ticket (especially since I need like 5 items signed lol). Worth every single dime if you ask me.

Wouldn't it be cool if we got David Kaye too. Not only would he be great for the BW 20th anniversary, then we'd have nearly every Megatron there except Animated(Corey Burton) and RiD/Car Robots(Daniel Riordan).

I hope we can get him to read the conversation between Megatron and Ravage from that issue of MTMTE. I forget which one it is. But it's the one where like Megatron explains why he left the Decepticons. G1 Megatron's message from the Golden Disk would be cool too, but it's only like 2 or 3 lines and honestly I don't know how he could do it any better than Garry Chalk did it other than being "official" GeeWun Megatron.

How much was Welker charging at Botcon?

If it's the same price as the Cullen VIP I'm totally down.

It was $200 but you could only get it if you paid for the Primus package ($409 for members/$509 for non) or upgraded to Gold package (an added $400 on top of the Primus) and you had to be a Transformer's Collectors' Club member.

Luckily, we don't have to deal with that at TFCon. Like many of the other shows he's done, it's probably going to be a simple package along the lines of what Cullen offered and charged last year (which is much more reasonably priced).

Fingers crossed they offer $75 add-on autographs like they did in Rhode Island.
