I've been leveling up my G1 collection this past year, and I love these robots so much I've been drawing a new one each week. I'll keep going until I become too busy or lose interest.

Transformer of the Week 01: Piranacon!

The first guy is based on a figure I got in a lot last spring... a figure I never would have bought on my own, but now that's he's mine... I love him.

I got this guy in the same deal as Piranacon, and he's probably my favorite overall G1 figure. Gigantic, chunky, with a great alt mode (unique amongst bases). I love him, and I'll spend a fortune completing his million little parts.

An old one for a busy week. I have two of this guy; one I had as a kid, who is missing pieces and has a sadly-tilted head... and a pristine, minty one I got at the Retro Expo in Montreal a couple of years ago. An absolute favorite of mine.

I had this guy as a kid, and I just re-bought his bird/spaceship part to replace my lost one. He's a favorite character of mine (such ego!) and a really neat Transformer. Can't wait for the Combiner Wars version!

Transformer of the Week 05: Wheeljack

One G1 guy I never had as a kid, he's long been my favorite Autobot... a mad scientist who also an Italian race car and a brilliant warrior.

As far as G1 characters go, I would love to Sizshot or any Decepticon Pretenders.

But beyond that I would love to see some non-G1 characters too.

I drew Trypticon years ago. First time I'd drawn a Transformer as an adult, I'm pretty sure.

Transformer of the Week 06: Swindle

Another G1 guy I haven't picked up yet! Probably my favorite Decepticon on Transformers Animated, Swindle is also a great G1 character and a really nice Combiner Wars toy. I loved Fred Willard's oily voice coming out of his smart-aleck mouth.

Black ink diluted in water to make grey tones. Then I use colored inks over top. I've been doing this for years to differentiate my convention and commission sketches from other cartoonists.

Transformer of the Week 06: Monstructor

The last Pretender and the last Combiner of G1, Monstructor is the gestalt of the Monster Pretenders and remains one of the most difficult and expensive guys to get. But I shall do it!

Transformer of the Week 07: Optimus Prime

I just got an Optimus in a Kijiji deal this month! I also found a bunch of his parts at a garage sale in May, so I'm pretty pumped. Optimus is, of course, my secret actual father (like most of us) so I'm pumped to have him in my home.

This was drawn for my friend Diana's father Paul. I'll probably draw another one and ink it up with that nice, satisfying red and blue colour scheme.

One of the prettiest Dinobots, I recently got a Snarl for the first time and he's quickly become a jewel in my collection. Shiny and chrome!

Transformer of the Week: Soundwave!

I always liked the character on the old show, but I never realized what a fun toy he was until I got him (for $1) at a yard sale last month. He's a great figure, and one of the best henchmen of all time.

I had a couple Monster Pretenders as a kid, but I only found out recently that they combine as well! I'm slowly collecting the pieces to Monstructor; my most recent addition to him is the bulbous Birdbrain!

And your Scrounge is so awesome. He really proved you don't need great strength or skill to be a top hero; only courage & resolve.

I only now realized the similarities between him & Ernest P. from Ernest Goes to Camp. :)

Transformer of the Week: Gnaw, the Sharkticon!

I just picked up a G1 Sharkticon last week, and he's a super super fun little toy. I like that not all G1 figures are tall sleek toys; his robot mode is short and fat.

Sparkstalker is a Firecon, one of the spark-spewing late-period G1 Decepticons. I have him along with his mates, Cindersaur and Flamefeather.
