Legacy MMPR Discussion

Since there seems to be a lot of interest in seeing comparisons of the recently released Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Legacy Megazord and the vintage '93 release MMPR Megazord, here it is. Didn't feel like spamming up the Hauls thread, so here's a separate thread for this.

All comparison pictures have the vintage version on the left side, and the Legacy version on the right.
Note that I have NOT applied any stickers onto the Legacy Megazord yet, so it may look a little plain.

Boxes:
- The vintage one is significantly larger, though mainly because the Zords are packaged separately; the Legacy is packed in Megazord mode

Individual Zords:

Knee joint:
- The vintage version has the T-rex knee as the actual connector; the Legacy has an additional connector joint:

Standing comparison with Dragonzord:
- The Legacy isn't TOO much smaller, and is also a little slimmer in some parts:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e1...dragonzord.jpg

Dragonzord compatibility:
- Due to the smaller size, the stock combination of the Dragon-poncho won't fit:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ragonzord1.jpg

- Ignoring the shoulder clips allow the Dragon-poncho to lower a bit more, but still doesn't look good:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ragonzord2.jpg

- For reference, here's the Dragon-poncho on the '93 Megazord:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e1...ragonzord0.jpg

- The Dragonzord obviously won't fit in Dragon-torso mode, since the knee joints are different:

Super comparison with other Megazords:

Thanks for the overview and pics man!
It's not as bad as I thought it would be, glad I picked one up in the end. The original one is indeed a bit better, but the new one isn't too bad either.

Yeah, I missed out on the 2010 all-plastic release, so the Legacy version is a nice new mold to me.
It's not quite that much smaller than I expected it to be, and the proportions in combined mode are actually a little nicer. It loses the super-fat blocky look from the original for a wider-stanced slimmer pose.

That being said, I do feel the die-cast parts are odd (Mastodon/elbows, and T-Rex/thighs). I was originally hoping that most of the Sabertooth Tiger + Triceratops would be die-cast so that it would have the base-weight like most die-cast action figures would have.

The overall conclusion is that if you have access to the vintage one, go for it instead. But the 2010/Legacy version is an acceptable substitute if you're ok with the (current) lack of a compatible Dragonzord and Titanus.

Fantastic Comparison Gallery.

I still have my '93 Megazord and Dragonzord but I did manage to pre-order the "Legacy" Version for the 10 seconds it was available online @ TRU.ca. Still stands as my favorite Megazord of all time so I could not resist.

While I agree based on reviews that I have seen it looks like there was room for more metal but overall it's still an amazing version and worth the buy if you are a hardcore fan.

Hunt is still on for that Legacy Morpher though.

Wasn't a Titanus released in 2010?

Huh, you're right. I must've missed that one.
Just saw a video review on Youtube; the 2010 Titanus is definitely a smaller and slighly inferior version compared to the '93 release. Plus, its primary gimmick is the Mix & Match Ranger thing rather than the combination with the Megazord.
