Back in 2012 i created this thread about help with spots on pretender shells:
http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/showthread.php?t=42415
I asked how to clean them. Now from googling and 5 TFCons later i know that the spots in question are some kind of plastic rot the shells get and are almost unavoidable.Having just acquired a near perfect loose monster pretender (Monstructor) set i'd like to attempt to keep the rubber rot or colour fading from infecting it.Currently i have each figure bubblewrapped and in a ziploc brand freezer bag.I'm considering using this product:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRsMAfHrd-w

I'm considering using it as it is for rubber to maintain it's healthiness and prevent cracking but unsure if it will affect them in the wrong way since most stuff in the video the product was used on was black and if it made rubber darker over time somehow you'ld never really know.Any ideas/tips/tricks/advise,personal experience on how to keep any pretender shells but especially the monster pretender shells in pristine condition would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've found cleaning them with something like Lysol wipes helps keep them from getting "greasy", maybe treating them in Armour All might help too. But I really don't think there's anything that can be done to prevent the rot.

Wow have had my pretenders since new nothing like this has occurred...are they in a stable temp that's dry...i once and awhile clean mine with soap and water a mild antibacterial... in your case I would try the automotive cleaner restorer I use automotive grade adhesives etc for repairs so I would imagine these types of products (cleaners) restoring chemicals would be non destructive on toys as well

I have that problem, but not on the arms, just on the weapons/accessories.

Mine have been in dark closet, stable temp, dry, etc. too. I first noticed it maybe 10 years ago. Before that, I had taken them out every few years and never noticed any issue.

If you try that product, let us know how it goes.
