Wow!

Whatever market research they’ve done must show enough people will fork over $600+tax upfront for that amazing figure.

They pay expensive rent in some high end malls, even though this is online they do have to make profit so why not.

I just only realized the figure is $450USD at most of other retailers. So $600CAD makes sense. Yes, as Pascal mentioned, get your Edge card to save some lunch money.

I did rather preorder it from Amazon Japan even if the Hasbro import version had the rumored Peter Cullen voice clip. There is almost a $230 difference between $599.99 + HST and the Amazon Japan all inclusive $44X.

Don’t know yet. There is a rumor online that says it has a voice clip feature built in. If you read the product description on Amazon Japan it does say the new MP requires button batteries (ok, it can be anything like batteries for some LEDs). Now with the Hasbro version some theorized that this voice clip will have Peter Cullen’s voices. Will need to wait and see. I couldn’t care less, not for a $230 difference.

EB Games still says Takara Tomy, so I doubt this version will be different from the one from Japan. Besides, I'm losing serious faith in EB Games preorders. Preorders are always coming in extremely late and they can't give you an approximate date when the order will arrive (not to mention some of the time they forget to call you for a preorder and end up selling your item in store).

It's pretty clear the voice chip is on the back of MP44. That's why it's so big.

Its still cool to know that Hasbro is doing an effort to distribute this toy in Canada. About the voice chip, I do wonder what it will say. Since it is being marketed here, will it be in English and will it be Peter Cullen?
