Does Ages 3 and Up usually unseal their items and retape them?
 

I was a bit surprised when I finally got my refraktor set from Ages 3 and Up. The box had been opened and then retaped with some markings left over the tape. Usually if something will be doubletaped for inspection purposes (like Encore Fort Max was), it would be indicated in the listing, but there's none of that written.

Is this something they do regularly?

Factory re-sealing for quality control happens quite a bit, but the tape is usually in same place and same quality. Ages doing it would surprise me, but if they has quality issues brought to their attention - it would be smart instead of paying for return shipping and having refunds.

You could always email Boris and ask about it...

I've picked up mine early October. They do place a label to indicate order # or something, but my wasn't re-taped or double-taped. double take could be done at manufacturer though.

Maybe just contact them about it. Their communication is great and they'll probably do something about it for you.

Is anything wrong with it
If not whats the issue?
So what the tape was retaped.

I get what you're saying, but if an item is being sold as brand new and at full price (plus a little extra since they're prices are usually like that), then I feel like the box should be factory sealed. Like I said, the best thing to do would be to just ask them the reason for why it was opened previously.

I have seen this before and my sister works in retail and told me about it Some retailers will do this if a worker opens a case and cuts the tape on an item, the retailer will have that worker re-tape and mark a stock number for records and will ship it back to maker unless short stocked then will use it to fill an order.

FYI... I picked up refractor from toysrus around 4 weeks back and it also had been double taped and at first I thought it had been opened but the tape underneath hadn't been cut it was just double taped with the same tape applied over top.

I wouldn't like it personally, something about a broken seal would bug me and casts doubt in my mind regardless the reason, especially for a reputable seller as this. The versions I saw at TRU were not like this and at the price you're paying, personally, I would demand for an "open box" discount plain and simple.
