How to remove Fasttrack wheels for painting?

Hello,

I see a nice potential for Fasttrack to painted in black and yellow stripes like a construction type weaponizer. The legs in particular make for a decently large and heavy vice.

I've watch the Iacon Dispatch videos and crawled the web, but can't find a safe method of removing the wheels. Their size and placement make it hard to color the pattern on the legs.

Thanks.

Pop them off.
The plastic piece in the middle of the wheel can be pushed together to release the wheels.

Alternatorfan is right...also make sure you rotate the wheel as you pull

What kind of tool did you use to push those pieces? I've tried flat head screwdrivers and tweezers to using my nails and they all keep slipping.

A small flat head push either side grey pieces with the small flat head.
Then turn wheel clockwise while pushing the grey pieces together.
A word of advice as I tried it and you will scrape those grey pieces as the plastic using tools is bad.
But try it.
You should see what I mean.
Hope it helps.
I did not do it as I dont need mine painted.
I just tried.

I just thought if it you can use vegetable oil won't damage anything smother the wheels in oil and wash after but the oil will act as lubricant to pop them off.
Lmk how it worked??

Tried it with oil and still no luck. I even tried to using electrical tape on the flat head to give it a rubbery grip but these clips are tough.

I would actually use very warm water vs. oil...oil, if not properly cleaned after, will be hard to paint. Here's what I'd do:

-diassemble the legs as much as possible, to isolate the parts and have as little metal as possible (i.e. remove screws, pins etc.)

boil water (in a kettle)

hold the part safely...usually with pliers

pour the boiling water over the plastic part to remove

attempt to remove the part (sometimes gloves are needed, be very careful!)

This works pretty much every time.

Soap and water bub.
Doesn't stay on plastics when cleaned properly.
Veggie oil is different than pledge or abrasive stuff

I used tlk cogmans sword to pull off the wheels no damage ill post on the boards as I can post a pic on here.
The down side is by pushing on the grey pieces slightly bends the middle piece holding the wheel.
Take a look at transformers photos.
