Walmart US Retro Headmasters
 
I just saw the online Walmart US exclusive Retro Headmasters.

Are these redecos of the TR deluxes?

Yeah, so they have the Takara heads. Chromedome is more original toy vs IDW inspired. Brainstorm and Hardhead have mouths, not faceplates. Mindwipe... not sure, but his deco is sexy.

As cool as the G1 packaging is, I just dread the potential damage on this packaging on the shelf.

I actually, only recently, watched Headmasters (subbed) and to be honestly, for the most part, I didn't really care for it. :/

The packaging and new, for North America, heads and paint apps make me most likely to buy these. I know, what a sucker.

I think the price will be the big deciding factor though.

Generally, I think the Japanese "G1" cartoons aren't rated very highly for their quality or dub.
I think the charm is that it's a (somewhat) continuation during the late 80's/early 90's that provided some Transformers content after the US G1 show ended.

Also, there were occaisional characters and storylines that indeed stood out.
