Joe. “NFTs are a real opportunity for us. As you know we have so many brands that really operate on multiple demographic levels; whether it’s Transformers, whether it’s Magic [The Gathering] and the D&D brand, brands like G.I. Joe. We have a team that is leading our effort out of the west coast. We have our arms around this and see multiple opportunities on » Continue Reading. I've been following that space a bit trying to wrap my head around it. I'm an old dog in the traditional financial services industry so I don't get.

I think Hasbro is trying to get in on the media hype around NFT's to seem cool & relevant.

Personally, I just want want them to make good Transformers figures at reasonable prices.

They're expensive JPEGs that destroy the planet. That's about it.

Its a push for companies to monetize digital information... Like Skins, cosmetics, Loot boxes and such, the wider market wants a piece of that action. Think of Blizzard making "mount skins" and selling them for 25 USD making millions per release, repeat 100 times. Hasbro wants in on that action through NFT's.

Hasbro will release 10 of these exclusive animated GIFs as an NFT and expect collectors to pay $250,000 for it, with some rocket ship emoji's. Seems like Hasbro might be late to the most recent NFT craze.

If anyone at Hasbro ever visits this Forum, we just want good toys for the good money we hand over.

Aren't NFTs so yesterday? This is nuts on so many levels.

I have read all this and stull don't k ow or care what an NFT is. I'm just about done supporting Hasbro until they fire all current managment and hire people who can, you know, run a business...not into the ground.

I guess this is what happens when humanity gets too far away from our basic survival needs taken to the next level.

You can survive easily. Then you work on making yourself more comfortable, improving quality of life. Then you move to more abstract physical items that don't add comfort or survival. Now you collect digital ownership of something anyone else can have the same copy of...

100% this. They cut out the plastic window entirely and raise toy prices. Then they jump onto the NFT bandwagon to get in on the latest environmentally-destructive bubble.

Pure greed. Do not support this endeavor. It's the equivalent of the 1990s tech bubble. Let it crash and wipe out those fools dumb enough to dabble in it.

Wonder if all the Hasbro stans on this board are starting to see what the rest of us are... or maybe they still fan boying over the design teams Arcee design.

Hold on a sec, NFTs are just artwork and renderings under a unique computer code. I don't quite understand why people are thinking it harms the environment. Can someone please explain this to me?

Nevertheless, the whole concept of paying money for computer coded artwork seems kinda dumb to me.

Dumb idea is well... dumb. :p

But honestly, if anyone has the cash to blow on a blockchain piece of... whatever, then who am I to say no.

That's it?

They're bad for the environment because they have to leave the computers on? And the places where those computers are happen to be on power grids that use older non-renewable energy sources?

So if they hooked these computers up to a hydroelectric dam or a wind turbine it would be a non-issue?

Sounds more like a renewable energy problem rather than an NFT problem.

NFTs are still stupid though.

Is there anything else you'd like to add to the information presented in the video Dark Rage shared? I'm too busy/lazy to look it up myself and from the information I've been presented with currently, the environmental issues behind this seem like a witch hunt. Change my mind.

Damn, I think I might have pinpointed the problem here.

This is exactly how Cybertron the planet died. All the energy was used up for stupid reasons, in the transformers case, it was war, in Earth's case it's *checks notes* digital artwork that can be proven to be an original digital artwork, and not a copy.

Think I'll go invest in some Dogecoin.

You are right on point!

Humanity could be headed there, some more possible evidence. I know I'm getting a bit off topic, but seriously, WTF! This world don't make any sense.

So some idiot just paid $500k for a picture that can easily be found and downloaded on the internet for free? I weep for this world
