I’ll be bringing the family to TFCon and while it’s the main event for me, I think my wife and daughter might like to spend some time checking out stuff that’s around. So are there any family friendly activities in the general area? It’ll be our first time in town. I was thinking we’d spend the Saturday afternoon and early evening doing stuff. Any ideas? Thanks!

Playdium is a good choice close to TFCON for a family outing. Plus Square One is right there as well and I'm sure your wife and daughter will enjoy that huge shopping mall=:)

If you do go up the CN Tower, it's almost the same price to eat in the restaurant and it includes access to the tower.

Shopping. About 30 minute drive west of 401. There is an outlet store like the ones they have in Vegas called Premium Outlet,

How far are you willing to go? In the city there's art galleries, museums, a zoo, an aquarium, the cn tower, nature trails, a science centre, a Legoland, vr centres, a pioneer village, etc.

Closer to the convention hall, there's local museums, parks, walking path, batting cages, go karts and miniputt,...

If you are willing to go into Toronto and have the time, I would recommend the Ontario Science Centre. We went there last year and had a really good time, but you can easily spend the whole day there.

Lots & lots & lots to do in our big great busy city. Definitely, decide beforehand how far you are willing to go and if you’re coming into the core, check what events are going on. Depending on the time of the events, Jays game, TFC game, concert at the SkyDome, Air Canada Centre, street festivals, you’ll just have to plan accordingly for traffic.

That link that Super_Megatron posted is spot on, lots of fun family places/events.
