As you can see from the title, the priming process has begun for Nova. I just want to show you the difference between the original unpainted mash up character and the solid primed version.

Here is an image showing this comparison.

The next 2 images are primed versions of the Standard mode Chest and the Super mode Crotch.

So I'm thinking of using a brush and some model paints instead of doing the whole Spray paint method. I want some depth and texture to this character rather than solid colors like most factory TF's. what do you guys think?

Maybe it's better to contact some artists or the creator of Nova Prime, wouldn't they know his design and texture best?

Probably best to use acrylic paints for hand painting, they're most "forgiving" at fixing up mistakes, but enamel paints have their own advantages too (Usually a better finish).

Oh believe me, I've been talking to the artists involved. lol. I've spent most of this project talking to Don and Josh about everything to do with the character. (Don - design, Josh - color) I think I'm going to go the detail route, just cause I think since the character most resembles a gundam, I might as well paint it like one. LOL

That's great dak, I think you'd get the most advice from hobbyfanatics.com; their message board/chat room is super helpful (although they're somewhat of a bickering crowd, comes with the hobby), there are a lot of experienced gundam modellers there. They'll really show you the way to make a great product.

I'm glad to see more fusion of the Gundam and Transformers style and detailing now, it really brings out the details in many of the Transformer designs.

drybrush baby!!!as dark and gritty as possible just to show the effects of being lost so long in the "dead zone".plus hes supposed to be one of the very first primes so any kind of aging or weathering would help convey that aesthetic imo.which ever way you choose i know itll still look like a million bucks!!!!
