Just snapped a few pics and wanted to share my thoughts.

This set is good but could have been amazing.

First, the best part...

Ratbat is awesome!:clapping:I really was looking more forward to Soundblaster than Ratbat, but after unboxing this set I think Ratbat is the true star of this set.

Regarding QC...

A few QC issues to note with mine. Some overspray and even a partial finger print on Soundblaster but very minor. Most noticeable in deck mode. Still, shouldnt happen.

Soundblaster's joints were tight. No complaints there. The instructions were very easy to follow. I dont seem to recall it being that easy to interpret with Hasbro Soundwave's instructions.

With Ratbat, paint was perfect. Only issue is his one wing doesnt collapse all the way in cassette mode (see pic). No big deal.

One warning with Ratbat, be careful when transforming him. One of the requires you to rub the gold paint against another part. I suspect after several transformations, this will easily rub off.

Accessories...

Megatron gun and red energon cube, nothing special. They are red and will go to MP-10B.

Purple chest plate, popped off on the first try. But not again. I even transformed him with the chest plate on and it never popped off.

Cool feature...

One bonus is the G1 cassette sticker gimmick that G1 Soundblaster and Twincast had with their red tape deck windows also works for this MP Soundblaster's red tape deck window. I thought that was cool to homage the original G1 gimmick.

Also they included a cool little picture history of Cassettrons and Soundblaster.

Good but could have been amazing...

Now my biggest complaint. Why the heck didnt Takara give Soundblaster the glossy black paint treatment like MP-10B??? What a missed opportunity IMO by just using a flat/matte finish. Only his feet are painted with glossy black paint and for some reason the outer edge of the tape deck windows. :argh:

Final thoughts...

I have MP-13 Soundwave, so no surprises with Soundblaster...except for Ratbat of course. Still worth the price of admission IMO. I paid $110 US plus shipping. I hear Ratbat is fetching upwards of $75 alone. But...if Ratbat was not included in this set, then it wouldnt have been as sweet a purchase IMO.

And now for the pics...

Great review. I find I am liking the matte finish over the gloss. Its different and has a stealth vibe going on.

Thanks. Even a metallic paint job like that used on MP Soundwave would have worked better for me. But still a nice figure.

Thanks for the review. Did I read it correctly, you paid $110 USD for MP Soundblaster? Quite a deal.

Didn't get dinged with customs/taxes? Very lucky!
