First off, I'm going to say I like the extra plastic on FOC Ultra Magnus (Mebsuta) and Optimus Prime (Mekbuda). From the moment I saw the figures with the extra armor I always thought it would be a good thing. And it is, it gives the figure good height and weight (also a negative). I'm one of the few that thinks it would have been nice to have a trailer and hopefully they will bring it with the other upgrade kit (more on that later).

Packaging for both kits. I love the grim warning about giving this toy to small children.

A handy little "tool" they include in the kit to help pop off those pesky limbs.

Inside, we have a plastic tray holding all the pieces of armor, the Autobot sticker sheet and the instruction sheet. Interestingly, I only got the sticker sheet with the Optimus armor. Also, the instruction sheet teases that there is an even bigger set of armor that will go with the current armor. Don't know how that will work out since the core figures can barely handle the extra weight of this upgrade kit.

The key component of this kit is the hip/joint upgrade. It's supposed to stiffen up the waist area so it can support the weight of the top armor.

The armor has three compartments to hold all the extra bits that are not used like extra kung-fu grip hands, weapon magazines and face plates.

The emperor's new clothes. Like I said, I like the extra plastic and the way it gives the added muscle to a couple of weak figures.
And as you can see the top heavy issue with the tiny "Barbie waist" syndrome. Any more plastic and they flop forward like a couple of rag dolls.

I forgot to weigh the armor and the core figure separately but as you can see, the tuna standard still shows a relatively weighty figure overall. Though the armor is identical except for colour changes I still wanted to have both of them for Ultra Magnus and Optimus.
They are nice kits, except for the waist/ hip issue I can finally enjoy a beefy FOC Optimus and Magnus beside my Boosticus upgraded FOC Bruticus.

I got the Prime version the other week and it's probably my most disappointing purchase in recent years. After dressing up Prime with his roboclothes, there's nothing else you can do with him. Plus, his right elbow is kinda loose and one part kept popping off his waist armor until I decided to superglue it. And the new lower torso is just as floppy as the original. Redemption for that set will come the day they release the trailer. Until then, I probably won't touch that figure again.

I could get a few poses out of him but my Optimus armor issue was the waist /hip upgrade. It was better than the stock one but it felt like it could give from the upper armor.

Is there some way you can do DIY to add the missing trailer mode?

I think you can and someone did but it turned out to be a complete dog pile.
