Star Diamond is one of the smaller Chinese makers of not-Legos. I hadn't noticed them before I found out they recently released four different "Trans Robot" figures. All four seem to be inspired by characters from the 2007 Transformers movie. So I picked up the not-Blackout from a discount web site for under $5, including shipping. It was delivered air mail in under a week! The box was wrapped in bubble wrap and then put in a padded envelope.

As you can see they put into some statistics for the character (height and weight? missiles?) on the back of the box. This toy also features labels that include what seems to be their version of a faction symbol. He shares a faction symbol with not-Barricade. The Optimus and Bumblebee clones share a different symbol.
The built toy is about Scout/Cyberverse Commander size.

I built the vehicle mode first. The official vehicle mode is built by setting aside a LOT of robot mode parts, like hinges. The alt mode is a realistic looking brick Apache helicopter. It has two points of articulation, both the blades. I was a bit disappointed that they left out the missiles used for the robot mode.

When I made the robot mode I started by disassembling the helicopter, but I kept the parts seperate from those not used for the helicopter. As I built it I learned that the robot also leaves out a ton of parts, and much to my surprised I discovered that two parts not used for vehicle mode were ALSO not used for robot mode. Extras I guess, or they didn't realize both modes used these parts and placed them in twice.
Robot mode has 10 points of articulation. Ankles, hips, waist, shoulders, elbows and neck. The cockpit becomes the chest complete with faction symbol. The rear rotor becomes his left hand. The swivel for the top robot ends up being his waist pivot. The four blades from the top robot end up on his back, but configured more like a "T" than in a blade formation.

I plan to work with this set for fun and try to come up with some fan modes. See if I can't make robot or vehicle modes that utilize more of the parts, or maybe even allow him to Transform.
