My Customs Repaint's i am working on!

I used to always see Custom's and always want to start some of my own! so here are a some WIP! :primelaugh:

All of the newer stuff will be on later pages :)

Most of these only have one or two coats of paint and aren't finished. mostly because I am working on something for TFcon!

nice work mate....what paint did you use and hows the adhesion to the plastic?

i'm using Testors paint, it works great with the figures, and it's hard to scratch off, but it's great. it's an oil paint. perfect for custom's.

i'm using Testors paint, it works great with the figures, and it's hard to scratch off, but it's great. it's an oil paint. perfect for custom's.

How do you get the paint to dry without becoming sticky or tacky? Are you airbrushing or using a traditional brush?

I am using a traditional brush. and i am just letting it dry normally, my room isn't too hot so the paint won't become sticky. but it will be a little sticky at first but once you let it dry out it shouldn't become sticky any more. thanks for asking.

Thanks. Did a custom Sideswipe a while back and was never able to get it to dry properly. That said, the house I was in is incrediably hot and humid.

Do you mix your paints with a bit of thinner before hand, or do you use straight from the bottle?

yeah i wasn't able to paint till yesterday when it got nice a cool-ish, but i use it straight from the bottle, i'll probably try with some thinner on another figure but untill then i'll be going straight from the bottle.

Do you read the new IDW comics? Seen a few panels myself and was wondering if Cybertron Dirge/Starscream would make a good base to do a custom Pharma (Don't know why, but jet transformers have always been my favourite, especially ones with White/Red decos)

You're right. The mold originiated with Cybertron Starscream and was repainted into Dirge in the Autobot Ambush 2-pack with Roadbuster.

Got the Dirge repaint along with a Classics Jetfire, Universe Powerglide and Universe Ironhide second-hand from a local collector that was going G1-only. Turned out that the only one that had all his parts was Dirge and he just happens to look the nicest out of all of them.

Still hoping that guy will drop off the rest of Jetfire, otherwise, I'll have to find someone with the thrusters from the backpack and his other accessories.

haha. that's good, and bad at the same time. but atleast you got a good deal!! especially with the iron hide. i can defenetly think of a couple of customs with him!!

With how hard it was to find this one, Ironhide will likely be staying himself until an adequate replacement comes out in the new Generations lineup.

haha, yeah if i can get my hands on a universe iron hide i'd be pretty happy. but on another note, would you know what i can do for a repaint of a rts cyclonus? it's been on my work bench for 3 weeks. still can't figure out that to do :/

Well, he doesn't look like any other characters, was never retooled into a different character and was only repainted twice (Gentei!, Gentei! Strafe and SG Cyclonus).

That really is a tough one.

I suggest you paint him up like Ultra Magnus' armour, and not the internal white robot. I always wanted to see what how that figure would look if done in that way.

Plus, just plain white makes him a bit boring.
