Canadian Slag returns to the airwaves with a brand new episode!
The hosts cover some pretty interesting topics … but it pretty much devolves into a discussion about how much we miss Beast Wars. We discuss the extent adult collectors are affected by the cartoons and comics when it comes our purchases, buying Transformers with no backstory, we learn about Dreadwing in our latest Getting to Know segment, as well as discuss the recently announced Transformers: Prime Gaia Unicron and Jet Vehicon figures to be released in Japan later this year.

Was looking forward to this. Definetely a cool episode.

Totally feel you guys on the backstory for characters and the influence on the purchase. I picked up Tomahawk,Terradive and Jetblade when they first released thanks to their lil' interactions.

When I got home and wiki'ed their full bios, I was totally dissapointed.

Anywho, good podcast as always mates.

Did take awhile to release.

also here is Transmetal 2 Black Arachnia with her bra and what was under it (seen on the top right) with the Version 1 release.

With the Version 2 release, the blue/purple bra is glued on and if you try to pry it off, you run the big risk of taking large shavings of the red chrome found under with the 2 blobs of glue used.

You only run the risk of damaging it if you're a total idiot!

I have the version 2 and I took the "bra" off by chipping away at the glue on the inside surface of her chest. I don't know about all of them, but there was absolutely no glue on the actual surface of her chest on mine.
Once you do that you can just pull the bra off and you have a nice, more show accurate (except for the nipple holes) looking TM2 Balckarachnia.

As for fiction influencing purchases, this is basically how/why I bought most of my Armada toys. The cartoon was utter drek, but the comic was decent and I reall liked how the characters were portrayed in it and it made me buy many more figures than I had ever intended.
Most of which I've sold off by now.

Interesting discussion on Dreadwing. I don't personally see the Depthcharge likeness, myself. To me he comes off a lot more like G1 Cyclonus: A noble warrior very loyal to his master and the decepticon cause, but still willing to take maters into his own hands if he feels it in the best interest of both. Even his voice strikes me as very Cyclonusy.

It's the colour scheme. Especially the face. Personally I think that's where the resemblence ends.
