While this is technically not a Transformers toy, you'll see why as a Transformers fan you should still buy it.

But first, a quick back story. Gokaiger is the latest Power Rangers(well...technically Super Sentai) out of Japan. In it, the rangers are pirates...from space...who can use the powers of previous Power Rangers. So the Red Ranger can turn into the Red Ranger from Mighty Morphing, or Turbo, or Ninja Storm, or Lost Galaxy, or Time Force, etc. Same for Gokaigers 6th Ranger, Silver. He can turn into any of the previous 6th Rangers, whether it be MMPR's Green Ranger, Neo's White Ranger, etc. And keeping with that theme, GoJyuJin is his Zord/mecha. It is supposed to be an homage to 3 6th Rangers/Zords in particular. By using keys shaped like Rangers, the Silver Ranger activates GoJyuJins 3 modes The drill mode with Time Forces Quantum Ranger, the dino mode with Mighty Morphings Green Ranger, and the robot with Dino Thunders White Ranger. Which is pretty cool. I would link a video of but it seems like all clips of the show have been taken down from YouTube. Boo!

But even though this figure is supposed to homage 3 Power Rangers, it also happens to homage 3 Transformers characters.

GoJyuJins signature weapon is his drill arm. Also, might as well say it now, sorry most of the pics are really washed out. I think I need a new camera, or more pot lights and less flash.

But much like GoJyuJin himself, his weapon has 3 modes too!
http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/attachment.php?attachmentid=11592&stc=1&d=1315538137
It's second mode is a laser cannon/railgun looking thing. Not unlike Beast Wars Transmetal Megatron tail gun weapon.

You can even switch his arms around so that his weapon arm is on his left and his other arm, his dino head arm, is on his right. Thus further homaging BW Megs, mimicking his original form.

His weapons 3rd mode is a spinning blade shield almost exactly like BW Dinobots. Unfortunately the little thing inside the spinning blade cannot be removed and used as a sword like Dinobots.

And the 3rd big homage is his drill tank mode. You know who else has a drill tank? BWII Galvatron. It also helps that both are triplechangers who, aside from drill tank and robot modes, also turn into a dragon-like creature. Granted Gojyujin is not a dragon, he's a T-Rex, but he's also part Dragonzord, so...

One of the best things about this figure is the dino mode. It's like the Tyrannozord and the Dragonzord from MMPR had a baby and this was it. Only drawback about it is you can clearly see his fist in his mouth.

You can even pose him in a more Godzilla style stance. Or in his signature spinning tail attack position.

Even though this is a candy toy figure, well 3 candy toys actually, the articulation on this guy is amazing! Better than the full size DX figure.

Ball jointed ankles. Knees bend. Thigh swivel. Legs go forward, back, and out. Ball jointed waist. Arms go 360 and out more than 90. Both arms rotate at the bicep. The drill arm bends 90 at the elbow. And the head/fist arm is double joint, but both joints are curling arm style. Amazing articulation on this guy. And his giant feet really help to keep him stable in any pose. Heck, I just noticed he has toe articulation!

IMO, this is a must have figure. Whether you're Power Rangers/Super Sentai fan, a Beast Wars fan, or if you just want an awesome stand alone figure.

And if you are into customizing at all, this would make a fantastic base for a CHUG BW Megatron, BW Dinobot, or BWII Galvatron. Or repaint him green as an updated Dragonzord. Heck, I've got 3 more of these in that box. I just might do 1 or 2 of those for my TFcon 2012 custom contest entry.:p

My only possible complaint about this guy is that the stickers are a pain. It probably took me 3 hours to put this guy together. 2 of those hours were applying stickers. And they just end up cover detail already molded in. So if you are accustomed to painting your figures, I would go that way instead. Though he still looks beautiful with the stickers applied properly.

Bottomline. Get him. He's awesome. 9.5/10.

Yes there is a DX version, it came out recently, in fact bbts has it as indicated here http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=BAN13880&mode=retail

But honestly I think the Candy toy version is slightly better, as with most other Sentai Mecha. Also helps that its not $100+

Yeah when it comes to Sentai Mecha, I prefer Candy Toys myself since it has more then two points of articulation.

Bandai is releasing a Super Robot Chogokin Gokaioh though, their bound to do Goyujin soon too.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did one, after all there's already a Gokai Silver Figuarts in the works...

But until then, we have Dekaranger Robo//SPD Megazord for the S.R Chogokin line... Bandai should find some way to sell these in retail.. T_T
